You just installed Bluebeam Revu 21 and attempted to open some PDFs and they are still opening Adobe or your web browser. What do you do? Whether it’s a new installation or something that’s been an issue since you installed Bluebeam, today’s brief blog will walk you through the steps to ensure that your PDF files open in Bluebeam Revu. Here is the fastest way of doing so. If you prefer to watch a video, here is a link to our video on the same topic.
- Open Bluebeam Revu.
- Go to the top left corner and click Revu > Preferences. Alternatively, you can press CTRL + K to immediately open to Preferences. Note that this shortcut will not work if you changed the shortcut key.
- Go to the Admin section and click on Open Default Programs.
- A new window will open from Windows. At the top, there should bea search bar. Type in .pdf as shown below and click on the default. Click on Bluebeam Revu if it appears then click on the Set as Default Button. If not does not appear, go to step 5. If it does, you are complete.
- If Bluebeam Revu does not appear on that list, scroll down and click on Choose an App On Your PC.
- A new File Explorer will open. Go to C:\Program Files\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\21\Revu\. Replace 21 with any version that you have, such as 20 or 19.
- Click on “Revu” or “Revu.exe”. You may have to scroll down. Then click on Open in the bottom right.
Congratulations, any PDFs you open from your computer will now be opened in Bluebeam Revu by default. Please be aware that you may have to change your browser settings if you download PDFs from it. To do that, right click on the PDF that you just downloaded and click on “Always Open in System Viewer”.
