Dealing with forms is a common but often tedious task. However, Bluebeam Revu offers a feature called “AutoCreate” that can transform this experience. This tool turns basic static forms into more interactive and dynamic ones, making the process of filling out forms simpler and more efficient.
What Are Static Forms?
Static forms are the basic types of forms you might be familiar with. They’re standard documents or PDFs where you manually enter information. They’re simple but don’t offer any interactivity or automation.
The Shift to Dynamic Forms
Dynamic forms are a step up. They interact with you as you fill them out. For example, they can automatically calculate sums, adjust data based on your inputs, or even fill in certain default information for you. This interactivity makes them more efficient and user-friendly.
Bluebeam’s AutoCreate feature is key here. It scans your standard forms and automatically adds dynamic editable fields to them. This conversion saves a lot of time and effort compared to manually creating these elements.
How to use the AutoCreate Feature
The great part about AutoCreate is that the tool is one click away from turning your forms from static to dynamic. Take the standard RFI template shown below. This form is static and can only be filled by either creating textbox markups or using the typewriter tool. (Some will even print the form and fill it out by hand!)
We can turn this RFI template dynamic automatically by using the AutoCreate tool. In Bluebeam, navigate to Tools>Form>Automatically Create Form Fields.
Once selected, Bluebeam will read your PDF and automatically convert your static fields into dynamic fields. As shown below, users can click into the dynamic field and start typing away.
And there you have it! Bluebeam’s AutoCreate feature makes working with forms easier and more efficient. It speeds up data entry, reduces errors, and makes working with forms more interactive and user-friendly. Simple, quick, and smart!
